Agustìn Castellòn Molina and his score "Sinuosa... Emergiò desde el violeta" won the first prize of the V International Composition Competition "Appassionato Ensemble". The final parts of the Competition took place in Como at the Silk Museum (Museo della Seta) on Dec, 11-12, 2021 during the finissage of the exhibition Bodies without Organs within Como Contemporary Festival - International Festival of Contemporary Music and Other Arts.

Many congratulations from the staff of Cultural Association Polifonie, from the Jury and from all the members of Appassionato Ensemble, who have played the five finalist scores for an interested and focused public.

We would like to thank all of our partners for their valuable collaboration as well as all those who have made this Festival possible. Special thanks also go to all of you, who took part in the final concert yesterday. See you soon!

 

Finalists announced at the V International Composition Competition “Appassionato Ensemble” 2021

Today, October 27, 2021, the members of the jury, Mehdi Khayami (Iran) and Umberto Pedraglio (Italy), chaired by Alessandro Solbiati (Italy) selected the finalist scores of the 5th International Composition Competition “Appassionato Ensemble” 2021.
We received 96 scores from 31 countries from all over the world.

Below is the list of the selected finalist scores:

  • “Altri spettri” for violin, cello, clarinet and piano, Stefano Bonilauri (Italy);
  • “Pale flower IVb” for viola solo, by Zhuosheng Jin  (China)
  • “Photochoromosomes: Lines II” for bass clarinet, violin, viola, cello and piano, by Emircan Pehlivan (Turkey);
  • “Rapsodia Mechanica” for alto flute, clarinet, cello and piano, byby Sungtae Paek (Republic of Korea)
  • “Sinuosa… emergiò desde el violeta” for flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano, by Agustìn Felipe Ignacio Castellòn Molina (Cile).

The Jury also assegned a special mention to the following scores:

  • “B.cLoUd.E” for flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano, byby Iakovos Maimaris (Cipro);
  • “Colorabilia” for clarinet, cello and piano, by Miguel Alejandro Mata Sanchez (Mexico).

The five finalist scores will be performed on December 12, 2021, at the Museo della Seta in Como, during the final evening of Como Contemporary Festival 2021. At the end of the concert the Jury will meet to select the winner. The prize-giving ceremony will be held at the end of the concert.

Our congratulations go to the five finalist authors, who will be our valued guests in Como during Como Contemporary Festival 2021. Accommodation for the finalists has been made possible also by the generous contributions of Comune di Como and Cassa Rurale ed Artigiana di Cantù BCC.

Sunghyun Lee vince il IV Concorso Internazionale di Composizione Appassionato Ensemble

Sunghyun Lee si aggiudica con la partitura “Andante luminoso I” per ottavino, violino e violoncello, il primo premio del Concorso Internazionale di Composizione Appassionato Ensemble, le cui selezioni si sono svolte online nel 2020 e si sono concluse domenica 27 giugno 2021 in un concerto aperto al pubblico presso il Salone di Villa Olmo a Como.

A lui vanno i complimenti da parte di tutto lo staff dell’Associazione Culturale Polifonie, della Giuria Internazionale e di tutti i membri di Appassionato Ensemble, che hanno eseguito una partitura davvero interessante e complessa, apprezzata anche da tutto il pubblico presente in sala.

Ringraziamo tutti i partner per la preziosa collaborazione e tutti coloro che hanno contribuito a rendere possibile la nostra manifestazione. Un grazie speciale va a tutti voi che avete partecipato così numerosi al concerto di premiazione. A presto!

Final concert of the 4th Edition of the International Composition Competition Appassionato Ensemble at Villa Olmo

Sunday, June 27, at 6.30 p.m. the final concert of the 4th Edition of the International Composition Competition Appassionato Ensemble will take place, framed by the grand exhibit Metamporphosis, set up and curated by Fondazione Bortolato-Totaro-Sponga and the Associazione Arte&Arte – Miniartextil Como.
 
In an interlacement of music and fibre art, it will be possible to listen to the five competition’s finalists scores, that will be performed in front of the international jury composed by Alessandro Solbiati (Italy, president), Sofia Avramidou (Greece), Mehdi Khayami (Iran) and Umberto Pedraglio (Italy, Artistic Director). At the end of the concert the jury will get together to choose the winner, that will then be proclaimed and awarded the prize.

  • “7 etudes in variation form” for violin, cello and piano, by Luca Vago (Italy).
  • “Andante luminoso I” for flute, violin and cello, by Sunghyun Lee (South Korea);
  • “Don’t be rude, kids” for violin, cello and piano, by Hyeokjae Kim (South Korea – Austria);
  • “If we had not get divided” for flute, violin and celloby Akin Kilis (Turchia)
  • “A raid on the inarticulate” for flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano, by Francesco Mariotti (Italy);

Finalists announced at the IV International Composition Competition “Appassionato Ensemble” 2020

Today, September 28, 2020, the members of the jury, Mehdi Khayami (Iran), Sofia Avramidou (Greece) and Umberto Pedraglio (Italy), chaired by Alessandro Solbiati (Italy) selected the finalist scores of the 4th International Composition Competition “Appassionato Ensemble” 2020.
We received 87 scores from 25 countries from all over the world.

Below is the list of the selected finalist scores:

  • “Andante luminoso I” for flute, violin and cello, by Sunghyun Lee (South Korea);
  • “A raid on the inarticulate” for flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano, by Francesco Mariotti (Italy);
  • “Don’t be rude, kids” for violin, cello and piano, by Hyeokjae Kim (South Korea – Austria);
  • “If we had not get divided” for flute, violin and celloby Akin Kilis (Turkey);
  • “7 etudes in variation form” for violin, cello and piano, by Luca Vago (Italy).

The five finalist scores will be performed on December 13, 2020, at the Villa Olmo Grand Hall in Como, during the final evening of Como Contemporary Festival 2020. At the end of the concert the Jury will meet to select the winner. The prize-giving ceremony will be held at the end of the concert.

We are hereby communicating the new updates regarding the IV International Composition Competition "Appassionato Ensemble" 2020

The final concert will be performed on Sunday, December 13, 2020 in Villa Olmo's grand hall in Como, during the closing evening of the Como Contemporary Festival 2020 - International Festival of Contemporary Music and other Arts, in cooperation with Fondazione Bortolaso-Totaro-Sponga and Arte&Arte.

Art.6 bis (POST COVID-19 Pandemics updates)

An International Jury will meet to choose the 5 (five) finalist scores, which will be performed on Sunday, December 13, 2020 by Appassionato Ensemble in a concert open to the public in Villa Olmo’s grand hall in Como, during the closing evening of the Como Contemporary Festival 2020 - International Festival of Contemporary Music and other Arts. The concert, presenting the finalists, will be performed within Como’s prestigious Miniartextil’s International Contemporary Art Exhibition 30th Edition, in cooperation with Fondazione Bortolaso-Totaro-Sponga and Arte&Arte, and will be preceded by a conference/debate on new contemporary tendencies, on today’s music development and on the alliance between contemporary art and music. Sandro Laffranchini (principal cellist at La Scala Theatre in Milan) will open the festival, performing a solo cello recital, with 20th century music and in world premiére.

The Jury will be composed by:

  • Alessandro Solbiati (Italy), President
  • Sofia Avramidou (Greece)
  • Mehdi Khayami (Iran)
  • Umberto Pedraglio (Italy), Artistic Director

Art.7 bis (POST COVID-19 Pandemics updates)

The winning work will receive a cash prize of 750 euros, an audio/video recording made by Appassionato Ensemble, a precious gift produced in cooperation with the famous Como silk textile company Mantero S.p.a. and will be published by EDIZIONI SCONFINARTE.

Finalists residing abroad or whose residence is farther than 200 kms from Como will be hosted as guests of the Associazione Culturale Polifonie (board and lodging) at guest quarters/artist’s residency on December 12 and 13, 2020.

The IV International Composition Competition "Appassionato Ensemble" 2020 announcement will soon be available. According to this announcement the Jury will select the finalist scores that will be premiered by Appassionato Ensemble in the next Como Contemporary Festival edition.
